Xalkori Uses

Is It Safe for Children to Use Xalkori?

Xalkori is not approved for use in children, which is usually defined as people younger than 18 years old. It has not been adequately studied in this age group. In animal studies, Xalkori slowed bone formation when given to young rats every day for 28 days. It is unknown if this medicine would have the same effect in humans. Talk to your child's healthcare provider about the risks and benefits of using Xalkori in children.

Can Older Adults Use It?

Xalkori can be used in older adults. In clinical studies, older adults responded as well to the medication as younger age groups. However, because of general changes that occur in the body with aging, and because older adults are more likely to have other medical conditions, some older adults may have a greater risk for Xalkori side effects.

Off-Label Xalkori Uses

On occasion, your healthcare provider may recommend this product for treating something other than the condition listed in this article. This is called an "off-label" use. At this time there are no well-accepted off-label uses for Xalkori.
