Tarceva and Lung Cancer

Tarceva® (erlotinib) is a cancer medication that comes in the form of a tablet. It is taken daily and is approved to treat non-small cell lung cancer in adults.

There are two main types of lung cancer: small cell lung cancer and non-small cell lung cancer. Non-small cell lung cancer is the more common type. It generally spreads more slowly than small cell lung cancer. Tarceva is specifically approved for non-small cell lung cancer that has advanced or spread to other areas of the body (has metastasized).

When used for non-small cell lung cancer, Tarceva is not intended to be taken with other chemotherapy medications.
