Pneumonitis and Tarceva

People taking Tarceva® (erlotinib) are at risk for potentially dangerous side effects, including life-threatening lung inflammation (pneumonitis). Symptoms of this problem include:
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath
  • Fever.
If you develop any of these symptoms, notify your healthcare provider right away. You may have a higher risk of pneumonitis if you have had previous chemotherapy or radiation therapy.
(For more information, click Tarceva Warnings and Precautions. This article tells you what you need to know about staying safe during treatment, with details on other complications and a list of conditions to tell your healthcare provider about before treatment begins.)
