Small Cell Lung Cancer StagesSmall cell lung cancer stages are used to describe the progression of the cancer. After a diagnosis of lung cancer has been made, it is important to determine the stage of the cancer in order to plan treatment of the disease. There are three small cell lung cancer stages: limited-stage, extensive-stage, and recurrent. Examples of tests and procedures that may be used in the staging process include a bone marrow biopsy, CT scan, PET scan, and MRI.
