Infections With Pneumonectomy

Infections with a pneumonectomy are one of the possible complications you need to be aware of. How the infection is treated will depend on its location and how serious it is.

Some infections, such as skin infections, are simple to treat. You may only need to take antibiotics. Other infections, such as those inside your chest, are more dangerous and may require another chest tube, more surgery, or additional treatment with antibiotics. More serious infections are rare, but they can be life threatening.

If you get an infection, your doctor can talk to you about the best way to take care of it.
