Lung Cancer Home > Tarceva Drug Interactions

Medications That Thin the Blood
Combining Tarceva with blood thinners may increase the risk for bleeding, including bleeding in the stomach and intestines. Your healthcare provider may need to monitor you more closely if you take such medications together.

Proton Pump Inhibitors (PPIs)
People taking Tarceva should not use a PPI, because PPIs decrease the amount of Tarceva absorbed from the stomach into the bloodstream. This could make Tarceva less effective. If you need a medication for heartburn or indigestion during Tarceva treatment, an antacid or H2 blocker is preferred, as long as the doses are separated as described earlier.

Final Thoughts

It is possible that not all drug interactions with Tarceva were discussed in this article. Therefore, you should talk with your pharmacist or healthcare provider about any specific interactions that may apply to you.
