Nicotrol Nasal Spray Medication Information

Healthcare providers often recommend the medication Nicotrol® NS (nicotine nasal spray) as part of a person's plan to stop smoking. As a nicotine replacement product, it works to minimize withdrawal symptoms, especially cravings. The drug is available in the form of a nasal spray that is applied either once or twice an hour, every hour. However, no more than 40 doses should be administered in a 24-hour period.

Prior to beginning treatment with Nicotrol NS, inform your healthcare provider about any other medicines you are taking, as well as any medical conditions you have. This nasal spray is not right for everyone, particularly those with severe breathing problems, a peptic ulcer, or blood vessel problems.

(Click Nicotrol NS for more information on this medicated nasal spray, including what to do in cases of overdose, dosing guidelines, and what to do if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.)
