Iressa Cancer Treatment

If you have non-small cell lung cancer, your healthcare provider may recommend chemotherapy treatment with Iressa® (gefitinib). This prescription drug works by preventing cancer cells from growing and dividing normally.

Iressa comes as a tablet that is taken once daily. Most people who receive this form of chemotherapy treatment will develop some type of side effect. Some of the most commonly reported reactions to this medication include nausea, diarrhea, and a rash.

Because this drug has been shown to not improve survival rates, it is restricted for use in specific cases. In fact, the manufacturer of this drug no longer manufactures Iressa for use in the United States.
