Drug Interactions With Gemcitabine

When gemcitabine is taken with drugs such as NSAIDs, salicylates, or warfarin, drug interactions may potentially occur. These drug interactions with gemcitabine can increase your risk of bleeding or may suppress the immune system. To help keep these problems from occurring, be sure to talk with your pharmacist or healthcare provider about the specific interactions with gemcitabine that may apply to you.

An Overview of Drug Interactions With Gemcitabine

Gemcitabine (Gemzar®) can potentially interact with certain other medications. Some of these medicines that may lead to gemcitabine interactions include:
 
  • "Live" vaccinations, including:

 

 

  • Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as:

 

 

  • Salicylates, such as aspirin (Ecotrin®, Bayer®, Anacin®), choline magnesium trisalicylate (Trilisate®), diflunisal (Dolobid®), and salsalate (Salflex®, Disalcid®, Amigesic®)
     
  • Warfarin (Coumadin®, Jantoven®).
