Cancer and Etopophos
If you have certain types of lung cancer or testicular cancer, you may receive chemotherapy treatment with a drug called Etopophos® (etoposide phosphate). This prescription medicine is specifically used to treat:
- Small cell lung cancer
- Testicular cancer (cancer of the testicles) that has not adequately responded to treatment with surgery, radiation, or other cancer medicines.
Etopophos works to treat cancer by causing DNA strands to break so they cannot divide. This helps slow down the growth of cancer cells.
This medicine comes as a powder that is mixed with liquid and given as a slow injection into a vein. It is usually given once a day or every other day for up to five days, followed by a three- to four-week break.
