When renovating a home, you should use a damp sponge or cloth to clean dust collected on a window sill, as the dust may contain asbestos or lead-based paint.

Were you looking for information about Asbestos? Asbestoses is a common misspelling of asbestos.

Asbestos, a group of minerals that occur naturally as bundles of fibers, is currently used most frequently in gaskets and in roofing and friction products. It is not widely used commercially anymore because regular exposure to the fibers has been shown to increase the risk of several conditions, including lung cancer, asbestosis, and mesothelioma. The symptoms of asbestos-related diseases may not become apparent for many decades after exposure. Symptoms that require immediate medical attention include shortness of breath, chest pain, and significant weight loss.
