When renovating a home, you should use a damp sponge or cloth to clean dust collected on a window sill, as the dust may contain asbestos or lead-based paint.

Were you looking for information about Asbestos? Asbestes is a common misspelling of asbestos.

Asbestos is a group of minerals with thin, fibrous crystals. These fibers are so widely used that the entire population has been exposed to some degree. Air, drinking water, and a variety of consumer products may all contain small amounts of asbestos. Regular exposure to the fibers can increase the risk of asbestosis, lung cancer, mesothelioma, and other cancers. Those who develop asbestos-related diseases generally show no signs of illness for 10 to 40 years after their first exposure.
